How to Export Subscribers to Mailchimp
Overview
Exporting your eType Services subscriber list to Mailchimp allows you to leverage your existing digital subscriber base for email marketing campaigns. This process creates a clean data export that can be imported directly into your Mailchimp audience for newsletters and promotional campaigns.
Use this feature when you want to expand your marketing reach beyond your e-Edition platform, create targeted email campaigns, or manage subscriber communications through Mailchimp's advanced email marketing tools.

FAQs
Q: What if I get security warnings when opening the Excel file?
A: This is normal for downloaded files. Click "Yes" or "OK" to proceed - these are standard Microsoft Excel security prompts for externally downloaded spreadsheets.
Q: Which columns should I keep in the spreadsheet?
A: Keep only Email, First Name, and Last Name. These are the essential fields that Mailchimp requires for a clean import. All other eType Services data fields can be deleted.
Q: Can I export inactive subscribers too?
A: While you can export inactive subscribers, it's recommended to focus on active subscribers for better email engagement rates. Inactive subscribers may hurt your Mailchimp deliverability.
Q: What if some subscribers don't have first or last names?
A: Mailchimp can handle missing name fields. The email address is the most critical field for the import. Empty name fields won't prevent a successful import.
Q: How often should I update my Mailchimp list with new eType subscribers?
A: This depends on your marketing needs. Monthly or quarterly exports are common, but you can export more frequently if you're running active campaigns.
Q: Will this export include subscriber preferences or subscription details?
A: The basic export includes contact information. Subscription details and preferences stay in your eType Services system and aren't needed for Mailchimp email marketing.
Q: What if the Mailchimp import fails?
A: Check that your Excel file only contains the three required columns, ensure email addresses are properly formatted, and verify there are no duplicate entries. Refer to Mailchimp's troubleshooting guide for specific error messages.
