How To Edit the Mailing Address or Password for a Subscriber's Account

Edited

Overview

This guide shows you how to update subscriber contact information such as mailing addresses and passwords. Unlike some account fields that can be edited from your publisher dashboard, these specific profile fields require logging in as the subscriber to make changes.

Use this process when subscribers request updates to their mailing address, password, or other profile information that they cannot easily change themselves. This method ensures accurate updates while maintaining account security.

Prerequisites: You need publisher credentials for the eType system and access to your publication's subscriber login page. Note that username and password credentials are case-sensitive throughout this process.

FAQs

Q: Why can't I edit mailing addresses and passwords from my publisher account?

A: These profile fields are restricted to subscriber-level access for security reasons. Only the account holder (or someone logged in as them) can modify this sensitive information.

Q: What information can I edit from my publisher dashboard vs. the subscriber profile?

A: From your publisher dashboard, you can typically edit subscription dates and some account status information. Mailing addresses, passwords, and personal profile details require subscriber-level access.

Q: What should I do if the subscriber's username and password don't work?

A: Double-check that you're entering the credentials exactly as shown, including proper capitalization. If login still fails, refer to the "Subscriber Login Troubleshooting Guide" for additional steps.

Q: Can subscribers make these changes themselves?

A: Yes, subscribers can log into their accounts and edit their own profiles. This process is for when they need assistance or cannot access their accounts.

Q: What if I accidentally change the wrong information?

A: You can repeat this process to correct any errors. Always verify changes in Step 5 to ensure accuracy before concluding the update.

Q: Is there a way to bulk update multiple subscriber addresses?

A: This process must be completed individually for each subscriber account. Contact eType Services if you need to update large numbers of accounts.

Q: How often should subscriber information be updated?

A: Update information as needed when subscribers report changes or when mail is returned. Regular address verification helps maintain delivery success rates.
